This method retrieves the multimedia format type.
Syntax
HRESULT GetFourCCCodes( DWORD* pCount, DWORD* pCodes ); |
Parameters
- pCount
-
Number of FOURCCcodes in the pCodesarray.
- pCodes
-
Array of DWORDmedia tags formerly used for Microsoft multimedia types.
Return Value
Returns an HRESULTvalue.
Remarks
In the original Microsoft® Windows® multimedia APIs, media types were tagged with 32-bit values created from four 8-bit characters and were known as FOURCCcodes. Because FOURCCcodes are unique, a one-to-one mapping is possible by allocating a range of 4 billion GUIDs representing FOURCCs.
This method retrieves the FOURCCcodes that the current display driver can support.
The number available is obtained by calling the method with a valid pCountpointer, but with pCodesset to NULL. In this case, the pCountvariable will be filled in with the number of FOURCCcodes available. An application can then allocate enough DWORDvalues for this many FOURCCcodes and call the method again with the array pointer in pCodes.
