HP SIM reports a drive fault on a parallel SCSI hard drive managed by an HP Smart Array controller

Action:

• If the drive fault LED is illuminated, see the drive LED combination tables in "Hard drive LED combinations."
• If the drive fault LED is flashing, replace the hard drive. See the server maintenance and service guide.
• If the drive fault LED is not flashing and the operating system supports HP Insight Diagnostics, version 7.40 or later, perform the following:
  1. Run the Smart Array SCSI Diagnosis feature.
  2. Perform the actions recommended by the diagnosis report.
  3. If the issue is still present, run ADU, version 7.31 or later.

     For ADU report analysis, contact HP support.

• If the drive fault LED is not flashing and the operating system does not support HP Insight Diagnostics, version 7.40 or later, insert the SmartStart CD and run ADU, version 7.31 or later. For ADU report analysis, contact HP support.
