If you use the Shared Storage Option, Backup Exec maintains a database of shared Remote Media Agents. Without the Shared Storage Option, the backup jobs that one server submits can overwrite the tapes that another server creates.
When you add a Linux server as a Remote Media Agent, use the Linux server's hostname and not its IP address. If you use the IP address, the Backup Exec database cannot distinguish which device path to use for jobs.
